Dimapur  20 Feb 2024 : The Angami Public Organisation (APO) and the Planning Committee of the Sekrenyi festival 2024 convened a press conference to outline the forthcoming Sekrenyi festival, scheduled for Saturday, February 24th at the State Stadium in Dimapur. 

Sekrenyi stands as the paramount occasion within the Angami Naga tribe of Nagaland, symbolizing a profound ritual of purification and sanctity. 

The President of the Angami Public Organisation (APO), Razouvotuo Chatso, who is also the Convenor of the Sekrenyi festival 2024 Planning Committee, emphasized the significance of Sekrenyi within the tapestry of Angami festivals, underscoring it as the pinnacle celebration. Anticipating a gathering of at least 15,000 attendees, Chatso highlighted the festival's magnitude. 

The festival's distinguished guests include the esteemed Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, who will preside as Chief Guest, alongside the Deputy Chief Ministers, T.R. Zeliang and Y. Patton, as Guests of Honour. Jacob Zhimomi, Minister for Public Health and Engineering and Cooperation, Tovihoto Ayemi, Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election, and Moatoshi Longkumer, Advisor for Labour, Employment & Skill Development and Excise, will be the special guests. 

K. Neibu Sekhose, Co-Convener of the festival, emphasized its pivotal role in fostering unity among all inhabitants of Nagaland, transcending tribal boundaries. 

In essence, Sekrenyi serves as a beacon of unity, inviting all to rededicate their lives to higher ideals, and in solidarity in the spirit of oneness.
