Minister for PHED and Cooperation, Government of Nagaland, Jacob Zhimomi today graced the Silver Jubilee Edition of the Western Sümi Sports Association (WSSA) Zuikhu Memorial Trophy Gold Cup. Declaring the tournament open, the Minister in his address stressed on the importance of sports and games in the overall development of society. Maintaining that the country under PM Shri Narendra Modi has seen an unprecedented change in the realm of sports, Jacob urged the youngsters to follow up on their dreams with commitment and dedication. Citing the example of Khelo India games, he said that sports has now truly reached the grassroots level and that Nagaland was also benefitting immensely from it as is evident in the construction of various stadia, outdoor as well as indoor. The Minister also stated that sports is a great unifier bringing communities together. He therefore urged the participating teams to be mindful of their responsibilities towards society and be brand ambassadors of unity. Jacob went to further state that sports can change lives for the better. He also paid tributes to the pioneers of the WSSA who envisioned this crucial platform to bridge the gap within and among the Sümi community. Extending his continued support, the Minister lauded the WSSA and called on them to carry on being the torch bearers of positive change. Lastly, he called on all teams to participate in the true spirit of sportsmanship and learn from one another. On the occasion, the Minister also inaugurated the Silver Jubilee monolith which was dedicated by Rev. Dr. Phugoto Sema, Executive Secretary, WSBAK. 
This year's Silver Jubilee edition of WSSA Zuikhu Memorial Trophy Gold Cup is being hosted at Niuland Town by Niuland Area Sports Association. Teams from 11 units under WSSA are participating in the tournament. 

The Minister was accompanied by Advisor & MLA (IT & Communication and Economics , Statistics & Evaluation) Shri Sethrongkhyu Sangtam, Advisor & MLA, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Shri Pangjung Jamir, MLAs Dr. Sukhato Sema, Shri Naiba Konyak and Shri Imtichoba Chang.
