Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed gratitude to all participants, particularly those from the Chakhroma area, for their active involvement in the preparation of the Sekrenyi Festival. He extended his appreciation to all APO officials, dignitaries, and attendees.
The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of festivals in fostering community bonds. He highlighted how such celebrations revive ancestral traditions, promoting peaceful coexistence and unity among the people. Through Sekrenyi, Angami traditions and customs are revisited, providing younger generations with valuable insights.
Rio underscored the essence of Sekrenyi as a unifying force, fostering familial ties and inspiring aspirations for the future. On the occasion, he stressed the importance of hard work, prudent resource management, and the detrimental effects of modern greed on the environment.
Reflecting on Angami values, Rio underscored the importance of honesty, truthfulness, and the transmission of cultural taboos from one generation to the next. He referenced the APO theme, "right is might" advocating for diligence and hard work while pursuing rights.
The Chief Minister called for the documentation of traditional food habits and broader cultural preservation efforts. He concluded by highlighting the Hornbill Festival as a culmination of Nagaland's rich tribal festivals, which witness participation also from the North East communities of the country.
