I bring happy Sekrenyi greetings to the Angami community I on behalf of the Government of Nagaland and BJP Karyakartas In Nagaland.

You are all aware that this kind of cultural mini hornbill festival in all the district headquarters is an implementation of the Cabinet meeting held on April 16th, 2018. The main objective behind organising this Mini Hornbill Festival is to give a boost to tourism, give equal opportunity to all Naga tribes of Nagaland, and benefit local entrepreneurs, showcasing the beautiful and rich cultural heritage of the respective tribes. This mini hornbill festival has been introduced under the initiative of our visionary, dynamic, and vibrant Hon’ble CM, Shri Neiphiu Rio.

I’m aware that out of the several festivals celebrated by our Angami community, Sekrenyi is the most important festival and signifies sanctification of the body by performing various ritualistic ceremonies that are religious in nature. However, in the modern context, I also call upon the people to celebrate this festival as a purification and sanctification of our present society in order to foster more unity and brotherhood among neighbours and various communities inhabiting our domain districts. I am overjoyed to witness such a cultural extravaganza at a time when young people are more interested in adapting to Western culture than in following our own Naga tradition.

The Angami community has contributed enormously in their best ways towards the progress of the state. Your people have given good leadership to Naga society, be it religious, social, political, or any other field. May you continue to lead our society towards achieving our common goals and objectives and reap the fruits of sacrifice put in by past leaders as well as those who are in positions of power in any field today.

There is no differentiation in Naga society but only for geographical reasons we have started identifying ourselves as Central Nagaland, ENPO, Tenyimia, etc. But we are all Nagas, no matter where we are geographically located, so let us learn to live in harmony with each other and support one another towards taking our society to greater heights.

As Nagas, our cultural diversity is our strength. The PDA government strives to nurture each tribe’s cultural uniqueness, while bringing all communities together in the spirit of harmony. We believe in unity in diversity, and festivals like Sekrenyi showcase that vision.

The PDA government is committed to the people's welfare and has made concerted efforts that benefit all. Therefore, I appeal to the people to support the initiatives of the PDA government and participate in the activities of the government.

Once again, I wish the Angami community a very Happy Sekrenyi.
